Louis and Raymond Boillot of Volnay are part of the greater Boillot family and cousins of the illustrious Henri Boillot (Domain Jean Boillot) Jean-Marc, Pierre and the other Louis of Chambolle-Musigny. Louis himself is a retired Anesthetist, and Raymond is the winemaker of some 40 harvests with a pedigree of being an Oenologue and Maitre de Chai for a major negociant when he was younger. Both Domains have had numerous citations and awards from the top wine magazines and critics in France.
Between them, Louis (Domaine Louis Boillot) and Raymond (under the Domaine name of father Albert) have some 3 hectares of 1er Cru – ie only some 2500-3500 bts each per annum of 5 different 1er Crus. A really tiny volume ! Although they work together, fiscally the Domaines are separate, so you will see wines by each Domaine listed. The moment you step into their cellar, you can see that they are not only passionate, but also thoroughly enjoy explaining the subtleties and nuances of their wines and tasting in depth to give a greater understanding. These are some of the finest wines of Volnay and Pommard at exceptional prices for the quality. A real find from these two miniscule Domaines.
